In short

Requests the app makes

Regular mode checks

To tell the mode ("No internet", "Whitelists", "Russian-only mode", "Free internet"), the app opens the home pages of public websites from the country profile on a schedule and when the network changes. For Russia these are 45 addresses such as ya.ru, www.gosuslugi.ru, vk.com, www.wikipedia.org, www.youtube.com, telegram.org, plus the captive-portal check connectivitycheck.gstatic.com. The full list is in the profile file app/src/main/assets/regions/ru.json. Sites you add yourself in the settings are checked as well.

Each request is a plain home-page request with no cookies, no sign-in and no parameters about you. The User-Agent header carries only the app name.

Before the test the app shows how much traffic it will use.

These services belong to third parties and process IP addresses under their own terms. The NetMode developer receives no data about you from them.

What is stored on the device

Diagnostics locally use Wi-Fi parameters and status, network type, carrier (including MCC/MNC), IP addresses and DNS, OS version and device model, app version, settings and check logs. A technical check may show the country inferred from the external IP address; GPS and Wi-Fi location are not read. Public services receive the source IP address and request time, including when their servers are outside mainland China. This supports app functions, not ads, profiling or analytics.

This data never leaves the device on its own. It leaves only when you tap "Share" or "Export journal" and choose the recipient yourself. Clearing the app data or uninstalling the app deletes everything.

Android may include NetMode settings and the last shown mode in a backup or a transfer to a new phone if this is enabled in the system. That copy lives in your account or on your new device; the developer has no access to it. The journal is not included.

Permissions

The app asks for one permission only — notifications, used to show the mode icon in the status bar. Other permissions are granted by Android without a prompt: internet access, network and Wi-Fi state, background work and start after reboot. The app does not request location, contacts, phone number, files or camera.

Children

The app is not directed at children. The network and diagnostic processing described above applies to all users; the developer receives no data about children.

Changes

A new version of this policy is published at the same address with a new date. If the app ever sends any data to the developer, it will be a separate feature, off by default, described in this policy before the release.
